Battle Over Godzilla 2014 Production Between Studio and Producers

The upcoming Godzilla picture seems to be in trouble, thanks to the ongoing legal battle between the producers and the studio.

Legendary Pictures, being not happy with Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Doug Davison, decided to file a lawsuit against them in order to remove them from the Godzilla project.

The studio is also seeking court arbitration to stop the producers from obtaining a restraining order which would halt the production of the film.

As per the tentative plan, and given that things go as expected, the film is expected to hit the theaters on May 16th, 2014.

According to the stance of Legendary, the suit “concerns Defendants’ assertion that they are entitled to substantial producing fees and backend compensation on the Film.”

Legendary believes that it only owes $25,000 and nothing more to the producers, the amount which was agreed in the Producer Loan Agreement in Match 2011.

In related news, good bit of information for the fans of Godzilla is that the giant monster would not be the only monster in the film.

Warner Bros. has announced that, along with Godzilla, there would also be two more monsters to unleash destruction and chaos.

The studio also said that the themes of the new film would be significantly different from the original one.

Let’s hope that the legal battle is soon over without any complexities and the production of the film goes as planned. People would love to see a Godzilla reboot with a different story and, of course, two new monsters.
